Ritual. Transformation. Rebirth.

Ancient folklore collides with imagined futures in this bold and visually captivating dance performance. Beginning with an act of physical endurance, three performers push their bodies to the limit before embarking on a journey of transformation.
Drawing on female archetypes that have endured across generations- witches, mermaids, mothers, snakes, and warriors – the work explores how stories of womanhood are carried, inherited, and reimagined. As these figures emerge and dissolve, the performers navigate shifting landscapes of power, identity, and community, revealing the tension between tradition and technological progress.
At its heart, the work is a search for connection. Through endurance, transformation, and collective movement, it explores what it means to belong to one another in a world where technological advancement increasingly shapes how we relate, communicate, and care.

LaborBerlin presents: La Cellule d’Intervention METAMKINE

Founded in 1987, METAMKINE is an open-ended group of filmmakers and musicians exploring the relationship between image and sound. For this performance, Christophe Auger and Xavier Quérel work with 16mm films and projectors, while Jérôme Noetinger performs with electroacoustic devices.

With multiple 16mm projectors, mirrors and live editing, METAMKINE creates a constantly shifting interplay of image and sound. Film fragments are projected, reflected and layered across the space, while tape loops and electronic sounds are shaped live alongside them. Rather than following a fixed sequence, the performance develops in the moment, with image and sound continuously influencing one another.

For nearly four decades, METAMKINE has presented its work at festivals, cinemas, galleries and contemporary art spaces across Europe and internationally, continually pushing cinema beyond the screen and into the realm of live performance.

LaborBerlin is a collectively organised film laboratory in Berlin, open to everyone interested in working with photochemical film with an experimental and DIY approach.
